Army, Allies Ward Off Jeish Al-Fatah’s Attack in Southwestern Aleppo

The Syrian army and popular forces repelled a major offensive launched by Jeish al-Fatah coalition of terrorist groups against their positions Southwest of Aleppo.

The al-Nusra Front (recently renamed to Fatah al-Sham and a subcategory of Jeish al-Fatah) launched 4 massive attacks against al-Hikma region from al-Rasheedin 4 region on Wednesday night.

According to battlefield reports, the terrorists retreated after sustaining a large number of casualties.

After the terrorists’ failed offensive, the Syrian forces launched a counterattack and could advance in Rasheedin 4 region.

Syrian Army soldiers had also repelled a large-scale attack of Jeish al-Fatah terrorists on Tuesday to prevail over government positions in the Western districts of Aleppo city, inflicting major losses on the militants.

The terrorists targeted residential areas in the district of Jam’iyat al-Zahra with tens of Grad missiles and mortar shells at first and then landed their assault on army positions near Rasoul A’azam Grand Mosque and the district of al-Lairamoun.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with the militants and repelled their attack, forcing them to pull forces back from the battlefield, inflicting heavy losses on the militants.

After liberation of the air defense battalion and the adjacent hills as well as the Housing Project 1070 in Southwest of Aleppo and al-Hikma school in November, the Syrian forces had continued their military operations in Southwestern Aleppo to retake the strategic city of Khan Touman.

Hundreds of Syrian, the Lebanese Hezbollah and the Iraqi Hezbollah al-Nujaba Movement have deployed their forces in Southern Aleppo to start the final stage of operations to liberate Khan Touman after taking back al-Rasheedin 4 and 5 as well as the nearby areas.
