Battle Map of Dara’a: Syrian Army and Hezbollah Sweeping Through the Northern Countryside
The Syrian Arab Army’s 7th Mechanized and 9th Armored Divisions – in cooperation with Hezbollah and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – have made huge strides in northern Dara’a, securing 6 towns in the span of 24 hours, as the militants from the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda “Jabhat Al-Nusra” (Al-Nusra Front) struggled to hold the territory they captured in Fall of 2014.
The SAA’s 9th Armored Division and Hezbollah captured the towns of Tal Qareen, Al-Habariyah, Al-Sultaniyah, Tal Fatima, Himreet, and Sibsiba in northern Dara’a after fierce clashes with Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army’s 1st Brigade.
According to a military source in Al-Habariyah, the 9th Division and Hezbollah killed 51 enemy combatants, including the 14 year old Saudi member of Jabhat Al-Nusra, Sultan Al-Harbi.
Sources close to Al-Masdar News also revealed the death of Liwaa Al-Shahada’s (Martyrs’ Brigade) leader, Amin Al-Shaaweesh (AKA: “Abu Daani”), along with many of his fighters near Kafr Nissaj.
In Kafr Shamis, the SAA’s 7th Mechanized has taken control of at least half of the town after achieving a breakthrough in the northern part of this area. A source added that Jabhat Al-Nusra’s defenses are falling apart in the town; it is likely that they will receive reinforcements in the coming days or face a complete withdrawal.
As a result of their success in northern Dara’a, the 9th Division and Hezbollah are now firmly entrenched in the town of Kafr Nissaj, following their capture of the 6 towns nearby.
