Boroujerdi in Beirut: Iran Supports Lebanon Unity
Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security at the Iranian Shura Council, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, stressed on Monday that the Islamic Republic supports Lebanon unity.
“Iran supports Lebanese national unity as this unity provides tranquility, security and stability to Lebanon,” Boroujerdi stressed as he arrived in Beirut International Airport.
He hoped a near breakthrough to all pending files in Lebanon and the region.
The Iranian official praised the Lebanese army achievements and its role against the Israeli enemy and terrorism.
Boroujerdi also praised Lebanese national unity, adding “it is the sole guarantor to preserve Lebanon”.
As he met Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, Boroujerdi said that the US is a country that could not be trusted, stating that it was not respecting its commitments regarding the Iranian nuclear agreement.
However, US’ ill respect didn’t affect the good relation between Iran and western countries, Borojerdi noted.
“Our will and plan in the field of combating terrorism is very serious and true,” the Iranian official said.
Borouherdi, who is on two-day visit to Lebanon, will meet Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister, Tammam Salam, Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, Palestinian factions and Muslims scholars.
