Boroujerdi: Iran will host conference on latest developments in Syria
Chairman of the Iranian Shura Council’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi announced Tuesday that Iran will host tomorrow a conference to discuss the latest developments in Syria with the participation of 8 countries.
In a statement on the outcome of the Iranian parliamentary delegation’s tour in Lebanon, Syria, Cuba and Venezuela, Boroujerdi said that during his visit to Syria last February, it was decided to hold a conference on the level of parliamentary foreign committees’ heads with the participation of Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Russia, Algeria, Venezuela and Cuba in Tehran.
He added that the conference will start activities by a word delivered by Chairman of the Iranian Shura Council, Ali Akbar Salehi.
Boroujerdi stressed that Syria’s true friends are the ones who will participate in this conference, expressing hope that agreements will be reached to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
He added that Geneva 2 conference failed because Iran did not participate in it.
