Breaking: Syrian Army, Hezbollah cross the Barada River after rebel defenses crumble
Syrian Arab Army’s 416th Regiment of the Republican Guard – backed by Hezbollah and the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) – reportedly crossed the Barada River and entered the village of Al-Nashabiyah after a night of intense firefights with the extremist rebels.
According to an Al-Masdar correspondent, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah broke-through Faylaq Al-Rahman’s first line of defense at the Barada River and entered Al-Nashabiya, forcing the latter to retreat to the village center. Faylaq Al-Rahman’s collapse at the Barada River will prove costly in the future as this area was considered almost impenetrable just four months ago.
If the extremist rebels lose Al-Nashabiyah, then the Syrian Armed Forces would be within striking distance of District 7; this area has been under the Syrian opposition’s control since 2012.
