Candlelight vigil outside al-Iman Mosque on anniversary of al-Bouti’s passing
A candlelight vigil was organized on Friday evening in front of al-Iman Mosque in Damascus to mark the first anniversary of the passing of scholar Mohammad Saeed Ramadan al-Bouti.
Participants said that this gesture, held outside the mosque where al-Bouti was martyred, is a salute to his spirit and an affirmation that Syrians will continue to spread knowledge and combat dark ideas, affirming that al-Bouti will live on in the minds and hearts of youths.
Al-Bouti was murdered by a terrorist suicide bomber who detonated an explosive belt he was wearing inside al-Iman Mosque where the scholar was teaching, killing and injuring dozens including al-Bouti’s grandson.
