Combat footage shows Syrian Army military operations in Palmyra
Having completely recaptured Palmyra from the self-proclaimed Islamic State early this month, the Syrian forces – backed by Russian Air Force – continue to expand control on territories to the east of the ancient city.
Led by the Russian-trained 5th Legion, the government forces were capable – last Sunday – to expel the Islamic State militants from Talialh Mountains, located nearly 20 km to the southwest of Palmyra.
Video footage released by the Syrian Ministry of Defense shows Syrian and Russian attack helicopters conducting heavy airstrikes on ISIS positions.
Dozens of jihadi fighters have been killed in the process, their vehicles destroyed.
