Day 3 of the Iraqi forces Al-Qairawan offensive begins

The third day of the Popular Mobilization Units’ (Hashd Al-Sha’abi) Al-Qairawan offensive has commenced in northwestern Nineveh, the official wing of the PMU reported this morning.

The Popular Mobilization Units attacked the Islamic State’s (ISIL) positions at several axes this morning, inflicting heavy damage on the terrorist group’s defenses amid their third push to capture Al-Qairawan.

Al-Qairawan is located directly southwest of the Islamic State’s stronghold at Tal ‘Afar.

In order to attack Tal ‘Afar in the coming weeks, the Iraqi Armed Forces will need to capture Al-Qairawan and its surrounding villages before beginning this imperative operation to expel the Islamic State terrorists from the region.
