Demonstrations erupt in Jordan and Iraq in opposition to Trump’s proposed Gaza ‘ethnic cleansing’ initiative

Thousands of demonstrators have mobilized in the streets of Jordan and Iraq to voice their opposition to US President Donald Trump's proposal, which they claim aims to displace the native population of Gaza.

Demonstrators in Amman, the capital of Jordan, along with several other cities across the nation, voiced their opposition to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed plans to forcibly relocate residents of the Gaza Strip.

A significant number of Jordanian lawmakers have expressed their opposition to the proposal, prompting the introduction of new draft legislation in the nation’s parliament aimed at prohibiting the forced relocation of Palestinians to Jordan.

A Jordanian lawmaker has advocated for the reinstatement of compulsory military service, citing the possibility of a future conflict with Israel regarding the ongoing dispute.

Demonstrations opposing the relocation plan erupted in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. These protests followed similar ones previously held in Egypt.

In a meeting held on Thursday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former President Donald Trump revealed his proposal to annex the Gaza Strip and relocate the Palestinian population from the area.

Former President Donald Trump’s proposal involved the forcible relocation of Gaza residents to Egypt and Jordan. However, this plan has been officially dismissed by both nations.

Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, subsequently suggested that the inhabitants of Gaza be resettled in Ireland and Spain.

The proposed plan has faced widespread criticism from global leaders, with the UN Secretary-General notably voicing strong disapproval.

Former President Donald Trump’s proposed plan has drawn criticism from numerous supporters who initially backed his election bid. Critics argue that the plan appears to prioritize Israel’s interests, seemingly at odds with Trump’s frequently stated “America First” policy stance.
