Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed Imam Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says enemies have waged a large-scale intelligence war against Iran, but that foreign spy agencies have failed in their attempts to inflict any harm on the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi and a group of the ministry’s employees in Tehran on Wednesday.

“We are standing in the midst of a large battlefield. On the one side, there is the Islamic Republic establishment, and on the other side, a large and powerful front of enemies,” the Leader said.

The leader noted that despite all the facilities they have at their disposal, foreign intelligence services have not succeeded in doing any serious harm to the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei further outlined different aspects of the “complicated” intelligence war against Iran.

In order to wage this war, the leader said, they employ various tactics, ranging from ‘infiltration and data theft’ to ‘affecting decision makings,’ ‘swaying public opinion,’ ‘disrupting the financial and economic order’ and ‘disrupting security.’

He also stressed that the footsteps of foreign intelligence systems could be traced in the recent crisis that hit Iran’s foreign exchange market.

The Leader further drew attention to the need for a serious fright against corruption. “The anti-corruption campaign needs to be taken seriously and the roots [of graft] should be dealt with,” he advised.
