Firefights Engulf Northern Aleppo; Another Nusra Drone Downed
The National Defense Forces (NDF) have downed another reconnaissance drone belonging to the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra at the village of Duwayr Al-Zeitoun in northern Aleppo.
This Jabhat Al-Nusra unmanned aircraft becomes the second drone to be downed by the NDF/Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the last 48 hours in northern Syria; it is also the sixth drone downed by the Syrian military in the last two weeks.
The drone was seen flying over the NDF’s positions in western Duwayr Al-Zeitoun before the fighters were instructed to down the unmanned aircraft at 12:30 P.M Damascus Time on Tuesday.
While the drone was in service, Jabhat Al-Nusra – in coordination with Jaysh Al-Mujahiddeen – attacked the northern sector of Duwayr Al-Zeitoun; however, they were unable to infiltrate into the village, as the Syrian Arab Air Force mercilessly targeted the agglomeration of enemy combatants nearby.
East of Duwayr Al-Zeitoun, the SAA, NDF and Liwaa Al-Quds repelled another Jabhat Al-Nusra infiltration attempt into the village of Bashkoy, resulting in the death of 13 enemy combatants and the arrest of 6 others.
Fierce clashes engulfed the Handarat Refugee Camp, as the Palestinian militia loyal to the SAA continued their counter-offensive against the militants of Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham, securing another building block adjacent to the northern entrance to the camp.
