First group of terrorists exit Al-Qaboun in Damascus
The first batch of militants and their families have departed from the Al-Qaboun District in eastern Damascus, local journalists reported in the capital city reported this morning.
At least 50 militants and their families have left Al-Qaboun so far and another 250 are expected to leave later today, as the Syrian government takes control of this district for the first time since late 2011.
Both Al-Qaboun and Tishreen have long been under the control of the jihadist rebels; these districts played an integral role in the latter’s battle against the Syrian Arab Army in the eastern sector of Damascus City.
With the surrender of Al-Qaboun and Tishreen by the jihadist rebels on Saturday, the Syrian Arab Army can now turn their attention to the Jobar District, where they have been engaged in a fierce battle for more than five years.
