For First Time in Decades, Israel Comes Under Attack by Tens of Rockets from Syria
Syria’s state news agency, SANA, reported on Wednesday night that the Syrian army’s air defense systems intercepted Israel’s missile attacks on the town of al-Ba’ath; Israel had also earlier targeted the town with artillery fire.
Based on the report, the Syrian army’s air defense systems intercepted tens of Israeli missiles in the sky while a number of missiles hit the air defense and radar units as well as arms caches.
Meantime, al-Mayadeen news channel reported that over 50 rockets were fired at 4 Israeli military complex centers in occupied Golan, each including several military units, after Israel’s attacks on Quneitra.
Other sources, including al-Alam news channel, also reported that the number of rockets fired at occupied Golan went over 68.
It added that tens of Israeli military centers, including the command center for technical and electronic tapping, the 9900 secret border headquarters to collect visual intelligence, the military command center for electronic warfare, the pin-pointing weapons watchtower, the regional command center for the Isreali army unit 810, the military brigade command center in Harmoun, the al-Shatawi center of Benastim winter warfare special unit, came under attack.
Al-Mayadeen also said that the Israeli Iron Dome defense shield has failed to intercept the rockets, adding that Tel Aviv has ordered troops to avoid disclosing any information about the target of the attacks.
Some sources also reported that Israel has attacked al-Kaswah region in Southern Damascus, but the attack was fully repelled by the Syrian army.
The Syrian Army air defense units intercepted two Israeli missiles fired at the Southern part of Damascus province on Tuesday night as well.
SANA reported that the air defense units intercepted 2 Israeli missiles fired at al-Keswah region in Southern Damascus on Tuesday night.
In the meantime, al-Jazeera TV channel reported that the Israeli missile attack was launched to target a militant base in Southern Damascus.
Also, al-Mayadeen TV quoted sources in Quneitra province as reporting that three Israeli missiles were fired from the occupied Golan Heights at Syrian territories on the same night.
The sources further told al-Mayadeen that the Israeli warplanes were flying over the Golan Heights, underlining the possibility that the fighter jets fired the missile at Syria’s soil.
