Former IRGC chief warns that if Palestine falls, adversaries will target Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey
A former top commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has issued a warning that the Israeli regime and its allies may pose a threat to Iran and other countries in the West Asia region, should they successfully conclude their ongoing military operations against Palestinian and Lebanese factions.
Major General Mohsen Rezaei, a current member of Iran’s Expediency Council, stated on Tuesday that Iran is the central issue in the ongoing war.
“Regarding this situation, he emphasized that Gaza and Lebanon have become the defensive frontline for West Asian nations. He further cautioned that if Gaza and Lebanon were to be overrun, adversaries would likely advance towards Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Iran.”
The remarks were made in the context of the ongoing conflict in Gaza and Lebanon, where the Israeli military actions have resulted in the deaths of at least 43,972 Palestinians, a majority of whom are women and children, and have also led to the deaths of 3,544 individuals in Lebanon.
The aggressive military campaign has been receiving comprehensive political, military, and intelligence backing from the United States, the regime’s most steadfast ally.
‘US-Backed Israeli Military Operations Targeting Iran’s Regional Influence’
In an analysis of the motivations behind the regime’s confrontational stance, Rezaei asserted that the adversary aims to communicate a narrative through warfare, suggesting that “West Asia is either aligned with us or under the influence of the Islamic Republic.”
According to his statement, the ongoing conflict is perceived as “a matter of fate” for both the regime and Washington. He asserts that the regime is fighting to avoid being ousted from the region, while the United States is participating in the conflict to “sustain its imperialistic influence and perceived superpower status in the area.”
Rezaei has asserted that the ongoing conflict is intended to “undermine Islam and challenge Iran’s influence in the region.”
Iran Firm in Bolstering Resistance Front
The Islamic Republic is not seeking to escalate the conflict and “will not tolerate” such developments, stated an official. The country remains unwavering in its commitment to self-defense and is bolstering support for the regional resistance front.
An official remarked on the possible consequences of the intense US-Israeli military efforts, stating that the international community will increasingly recognize the actions of both nations as criminal, leading to heightened global reactions over time.
“The revolutionary forces within Iran are urged to mobilize all available resources to support the people of Gaza and Lebanon in their time of need.”
‘Western Technologies Fuel Israeli Military Operations, Claim Critics’
In other parts of his statement, Rezaei emphasized that the United States, along with several European nations, have deployed their full technological resources to support the regime in its ongoing military offensive.
Reports suggest that military equipment used by the Israeli forces against Palestinian groups is allegedly being produced in U.S. arms factories shortly before being deployed against resistance movements in the region.
An official described the campaign as an unprecedented form of “terrorist war,” asserting that it would be marked in human history for its unique nature. Unlike previous conflicts, this war notably lacks the occupation of any territory.
Rezaei characterized the ongoing conflict as tantamount to acts of homicide and genocide.
He stated that terrorism is at the core of the ongoing conflict against Muslims and the Islamic World, cautioning that numerous countries across the globe would not tolerate these atrocities.
