Four martyred following terrorist assault on dormitories at Aleppo University in Syria
According to the state news agency SANA, four civilians, among them two students, lost their lives on Friday in Aleppo, Syria. This tragedy occurred due to insurgent shelling targeting university student dormitories.
On Wednesday, insurgents associated with the militant organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham initiated an offensive across numerous towns and villages in the northwestern Aleppo province. This region is currently under the control of government forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
On the subsequent day, Russian and Syrian aircraft launched airstrikes on rebel-controlled areas of northwest Syria, close to the Turkish border, in an effort to repel an insurgent offensive that had recently seized land for the first time in several years, according to sources from the Syrian army and rebel groups.
According to a report by Reuters, the recent assault has been the most significant since March 2020, following the ceasefire agreement between Russia, an ally of Assad, and Turkey, a supporter of the rebel forces. This truce was aimed at halting years of conflict that had displaced millions of Syrians who opposed Assad’s leadership.
