Ghalawnji: SYP 81.5 billion allocated for repairing and compensating for damage to public and private properties
Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs, Local Administration Minister Omar Ghalawanji, said that the total amount of funds allocated by the government for repairing damage to public properties and compensating for damage to private properties in the state general budget for 2012-2013-2014 amounts to SYP 81.5 billion.
During a meeting of the Reconstruction Committee on Wednesday, Ghalawanji said that around SYP 19 billion of these funds has been allocated to the Committee so far, and that the overall direct damage caused to ministries and affiliated establishments is estimated at SYP 1,345 billion, while indirect damage is estimated at SYP 4,757 billion.
He said that compensations for damage to private properties which are due to be paid to citizens exceeds SYP 19.8 billion, and that 9 billion has been dispenses as compensations so far.
Regarding the 2014 emergency reconstruction plan, Ghalawanji said that the committee approved projects for the plan valued at SYP 49 billion.
The Minister reviewed some available options for expanding makeshift housing centers and preparing zoning plans for areas that were destroyed in order to rebuild them.
The Committee approved the construction of housing centers for up to 10,000 people, 6,000 of which will be located in Adra Industrial City and 4,000 in Hasia.
