Hamas condemns the arrest of five journalists in West Bank

Hamas Movement on Wednesday slammed the Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces in the West Bank for the arrest of five journalists Tuesday night. Hamas called the arrest a means of oppression and subjection.

Rafat Murrah, the Hamas media spokesman, said in a statement on Wednesday that the arrest of the journalists is a violation of the Palestinian media and freedom of speech. It is an attempt to intimidate and silence pressmen, he said.

The Hamas leader asked the PA security forces to immediately release the detained journalists.
