Hezbollah and the Syrian Armed Forces Capture More Territory in Jaroud Jarajeer
Terrorist Al-Nusra group is steadily losing ground at the northern hills of the Qalamoun Mountains, as the joint contingents from the Syrian Arab Army’s 20th and 128th Brigades of the 1st Armored Division – alongside Hezbollah and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – have advanced further into Jaroud Jarajeer after a series of intense clashes near the Syrian-Lebanese border on Friday.
Friday’s operations were kicked-off by a barrage of airstrikes from the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF), who relentlessly pounded the militants of Jabhat Al-Nusra at Jaroud Jarajeer (Syria) and Jaroud ‘Arsal (Lebanon); this was followed up with a powerful ground assault by Hezbollah’s infantry and a half dozen tanks from Syrian Arab Army at the southwestern hills of Qurnah Shamees Al-Hassan – an area that was recaptured by the Al-Qaeda combatants last week.
Unfortunately for the Al-Qaeda militants at Qurnah Shamees Al-Hassan, they were unable to withstand the storm of Hezbollah soldiers and Syrian Air Force airstrikes that pounded their positions at this collection of hills in Jaroud Jarajeer, resulting in the subsequent withdrawal of all Jabhat Al-Nusra militants from the aforementioned area.
With Qurnah Shamees Al-Hassan under their control, Hezbollah and the Syrian Armed Forces now control over 70 percent of the territory in the Qalamoun Mountains, leaving only the eastern mountains and Jaroud ‘Arsal as the only parts currently in possession of the militants of Jabhat Al-Nusra and Jaysh Al-Islam.
