Hezbollah and the Syrian Army Overwhelm Al-Qaeda at the Qalamoun Mountains
On Tuesday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 20th and 128th Brigades of the 1st Armored Division – in coordination with their allies from Hezbollah and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – conducted another powerful assault at the hills of Jaroud Jarajeer, where they encountered a large contingent of militants from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra.”
Hezbollah led the assault in Jaroud Jarajeer, striking Jabhat Al-Nusra’s frontline defense’s at the northern hills of Sha’bah Al-Barakat, Sha’bah Al-Thaljah Al-Barakat, Qurnah Sha’bah Al-Shukarah, Sha’bah Beit Al-Shakour, and Taleel Al-Hajj, killing two dozen enemy combatants from the aforementioned terrorist group in the Syrian part of the Qalamoun Mountains.
Following their fierce assault on Tuesday morning, Hezbollah received a large set of reinforcements from the SAA and the NDF, resulting in another intense attack on Jabhat Al-Nusra’s frontline positions at the northern outskirts of Jaroud Jarajeer.
Finally, after almost three hours of non-stop fighting at Jaroud Jarajeer, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezboollah captured Sha’bah Al-Barakat, Sha’bah Al-Thaljah Al-Barakat, Qurnah Sha’bah Al-Shukarah, Sha’bah Beit Al-Shakour, and Taleel Al-Hajj; this successful campaign has paved the way for the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah to advance their positions to Jaroud Qarah.
In addition to their success at Jaroud Jarajeer, Hezbollah advanced at the ‘Arsal Barrens, where they imposed control over a number of small hills near the Syrian-Lebanese border-crossing.
