Hezbollah asked to remain in Syria after war by the government
The Syrian government has formally requested that Hezbollah remain in Syria after the war, Lebanon’s Al-Akhbar reported on Monday.
According to the report, a Hezbollah official told the Lebanese publication that they received an official request to stay in Syria “post-conflict reconciliation.
Hezbollah will reportedly keep their troops along the vast Syrian-Lebanese border region and inside the southern districts of Damascus for unspecified period of time.
The Syrian government has yet to comment on this latest report; however, they do not often confirm or deny these claims from Al-Akhbar.
Hezbollah officially entered the Syrian War in the Spring of 2013; they would play an integral role in the government’s successful offensives in the Homs, Damascus, Aleppo, and Deir Ezzor governorates.
