Hezbollah launches barrages of missiles at Haifa amid Israeli strikes on Lebanon-Syria border
Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement has launched barrages of missiles at Haifa in the northern part of occupied territories.
In a statement issued on Friday, Hezbollah said it fired missiles at Krayot, north of Haifa City, at 07:00 am local time.
The statement noted that that attack took place in solidarity with the Palestinian people who are subjected to a genocidal war in Gaza, and in retaliation for the Israeli strikes on Lebanon that claimed the lives of hundreds of civilians.
According to Israeli media, sirens were sounded in Haifa, Caesarea, the Western Galilee, the Lower Galilee, Acre (Akko) and Nahariya.
The resistance fighters also launched a barrage of missiles on mortar emplacements in southern Kiryat Shmona.
They also fired a missile at a Merkava tank in the vicinity of Malkiya post, leaving its crew members either killed or injured.
Also on Friday, Israel launched artillery strikes on Khiam Town, and the villages of Kafarkila and Odaisseh in southern Lebanon.
Israel drones also targeted an ambulance belonging to the Islamic Health Authority opposite the Marjayoun Government Hospital, causing casualties.
Moreover, Hezbollah fighters launched an artillery attack on Ruwaisat al-Alam post in the occupied Lebanese hills of Kfarchouba.
Another Lebanese artillery attack targeted a group of Israeli soldiers in the plain of Maroun al-Ras, leaving them dead and injured. The Lebanese resistance fighters also launched missile attacks on Ilaniya base in the Lower Galilee, and on the occupied city of Safed.
Israeli strike on Lebanon-Syria border crossing
The regime’s forces also carried out an airstrike on Masnaa crossing on the Syrian border, cutting off the main international road linking Lebanon with Syria.
“The road that leads to the main humanitarian crossing for thousands of Lebanese into Syria is now cut off after an Israeli strike,” Transport Minister Ali Hamieh told AFP.
The strikes came as part of the regime’s escalation against Hezbollah. Hundreds of people have been killed across the country since late September.
Israel has been targeting Lebanon since October 2023, when it launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
Hezbollah has been responding to the aggression with numerous retaliatory operations, including one with a hypersonic ballistic missile, targeting the occupied Palestinian territories.
The Lebanese resistance movement has vowed to keep up its operations against Israel as long as the Israeli regime continues its Gaza war, which has so far killed more than 41,788 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
