Hezbollah’s Surprise Attack Nets 28 Jabhat Al-Nusra Casualties in the Qalamoun Mountains
On Wednesday morning, a Hezbollah contingent laid a surprise attack on the militants from the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, killing 28 confirmed enemy combatants near the town of Rankous.
The National Defense Forces (NDF) and Hezbollah targeted an agglomeration of Jabhat Al-Nusra militants in the towns of Ras Al-Ma’arat and ‘Assal Al-Ward, killing 11 confirmed enemy combatants and confiscating their heavy armory.
In the East Ghouta, the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard (Harss Al-Jamhouri) continued their operations west of the Al-Wafadeen Refugee Camp after unearthing a large tunnel in this area in Rif Douma.
South of Douma, the SAA’s 4th Mechanized Division made its way through the rugged terrain of Kafr Batna, destroying a Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) hideout inside the town and killing 9 of their militants.
Identified among the dead Jaysh Al-Islam fighters at Kafr Batna were the following: Zaayid Al-‘Awad Al-Jaheeni (Saudi), Atfi Al-Sa’ouri, Nihaad Al-Masouti, and Jameel Al-Darah.
Fierce clashes were also reported in ‘Ayn Tarma, Jobar, Yarmouk Camp (30th Street), Az-Zabadani, Wadi Al-Barada, Khan Al-Sheih, Hajar Al-Aswad, Zamalka, Harasta, Deir Al-‘Asifeer, and Hawsh Al-Farah.
