Houthi forces launch new offensive to capture key district in northern Yemen
The Houthi forces, backed by the Yemeni Republican Guard, launched a new offensive to capture the strategic Al-Hazm District of northern Yemen on Thursday morning.
According to Al-Masdar’s Yemen war correspondent, Tony Toh, if the Houthi forces seize Al-Hazm, then the Hadi loyalists will have suffered an embarrassing defeat near the Saudi border.
More importantly, if the Houthi forces seize the Al-Hazm District of Al-Jawf, the Hadi loyalists will be forced to reinforce the Marib Governorate, as the anti-government units close-in on the provincial capital.
Meanwhile, southwest of Al-Hazm, the Houthi forces seized the Al-Hamm Mountains that are located inside the Al-Nihm District of the Sanaa Governorate.
The Houthi forces lost four points in the Al-Hamm Mountains on Tuesday before launching a counter-attack to recapture all of their lost territory.
