In Damascus, Araghchi pledges Iran’s unwavering support for Syria in its battle against terrorism

Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, announced that Tehran remains steadfast in its commitment to unwaveringly support the Syrian government, its citizens, and military forces in their efforts to combat terrorism, while ensuring the preservation of regional security and stability.

Araghchi, leading a diplomatic delegation, made his comments during a meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus on Sunday.

The recent meeting followed a significant offensive by terror groups headed by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), marking the most substantial attack in Syria in recent years. The militants seized parts of Aleppo, Syria’s second-largest city, and progressed south towards Hama.

The Syrian military has reported the successful disruption of extensive terrorist plots following a preemptive strike.

The Iranian minister extended cordial greetings on behalf of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian to the Syrian president and its citizens.

He claimed that the recent terrorist activities in Syria are orchestrated as part of a scheme by adversaries seeking to undermine stability and security in the region.

The official further stated that such incidents reveal that the objectives of the terrorists align with those of the United States and the Israeli government, who aim to incite conflict and instability in the region. This, he suggested, serves as an attempt to compensate for the shortcomings faced by the Zionists when confronting the resistance front.

Iran’s top diplomat has expressed confidence in Syria’s ability to overcome terrorist groups once again, drawing upon the country’s past successes in combating such threats.

He reiterated Iran’s unwavering commitment to supporting Syria in its efforts to combat aggression from the Israeli regime and terrorist organizations.

In a statement to reporters prior to his departure, Iran’s Foreign Minister declared that the Iranian government does not differentiate between the Israeli regime and Takfiri terrorist groups.

The senior Iranian diplomat asserted that, in light of the Israeli regime’s perceived setbacks, adversaries are attempting to achieve their malign objectives of fostering regional instability through these terrorist organizations.

The President of Syria extended his gratitude for the unwavering support from both the Iranian government and its citizens. In his message, he conveyed his regards to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, and President Mohammad Reza Pezeshkian.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has lauded Iran’s steadfast commitment to bolstering stability and security across the region, with a particular emphasis on Syria, as they collectively confront the pernicious threat of terrorism.

He called on all countries in the region to intensify their efforts to eliminate terrorism, emphasizing that the only beneficiaries of this threat are the adversaries of Muslim nations, notably the Israeli regime.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad lauded the Iranian Foreign Minister’s significant visit to Syria amidst the prevailing sensitive conditions, highlighting Iran’s message of solidarity with resistance-front nations against the Israeli regime.
