Iran and Russia to reject any disproportionate demands from adversaries: Pezeshkian
President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran has announced that the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement with Russia underscores both nations’ refusal to succumb to the excessive demands of adversaries. He highlighted that Iran and Russia are fully equipped to work in tandem to advance strategies aimed at enhancing peace, security, development, and economic prosperity within the region.
During an official visit to Russia, President Pezeshkian gave statements in an interview conducted with Russia’s Channel 1 Television on Friday.
He highlighted the crucial need for a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between the two nations, while also underscoring Iran and Russia’s intentions to strengthen and broaden their cooperative efforts.
He stated that the recently signed comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between Iran and Russia encompasses discussions on security, political, and economic matters. The pact also aims to bolster collaboration in sectors such as railways, road infrastructure, trade, energy, and electricity.
Addressing inquiries regarding possible military intervention by the United States or Israel against Iran, along with the likelihood of defense collaboration between Iran and Russia, President Pezeshkian affirmed that, according to their agreement, if either nation—Iran or Russia—faces aggression from a third party, they have pledged not to assist the aggressor under any circumstances. He further emphasized their united stance to prevent any such assault.
In other parts of his statement, Pezeshkian highlighted allegations of crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza and Lebanon, which he claims have the backing of the United States and European countries.
He asserted that no international framework or legal standard allows for the bombing and massacre of innocent civilians, even in times of conflict, yet claimed that Zionists carry out such actions with apparent ease.
In a statement, the official asserted that the Zionist regime and its allies are attempting to portray Iran as a nation pursuing nuclear armaments, aiming to spread Iranophobia globally. He emphasized that both the stance of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and Iran’s official policies are rooted in the firm conviction that the country is not seeking nuclear weapons, has not done so historically, and will not pursue them in the future.
Additionally, he asserted that opponents portray a contrasting image to Russia by dominating media platforms and overseeing financial, banking, and global influence. This control allows them to apply pressure and, to a certain extent, alter public perceptions.
President Pezeshkian underscored the importance of unity among nations that cherish freedom and independence, stating that such a coalition could effectively dismantle the forces of totalitarianism and unilateralism posed by adversaries.
He stated, “Our intention is not to incite war, cause bloodshed, or create turmoil. However, our opponents are attempting to persuade the global community that our goal is to develop a nuclear weapon and that we are the root of regional instability.”
