Iran asserts that the martyrdom of Sinwar will serve as an inspiration for those who pursue the path of freedom
Iran has stated that the assassination of Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, a Palestinian resistance movement, will serve as an inspiration for continued resistance efforts.
In a statement issued on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi commended Sinwar’s courage, noting that he did not fear death but rather aspired to achieve martyrdom in Gaza. Araghchi praised Sinwar’s bravery, highlighting his steadfast determination as he fought resolutely to the very end on the battlefield.
Yahya Sinwar, a prominent figure in Gaza, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Rafah city on Thursday, according to official sources. Hamas confirmed the assassination on Friday, following an announcement made by the Israeli military the previous day.
In a statement posted on his X account, Araghchi asserted that the fate of the Hamas leader, as depicted in his recent image, serves not as a deterrent but as a source of inspiration for resistance fighters throughout the region, encompassing both Palestinian and non-Palestinian groups.
Iran, along with numerous other nations globally, has expressed admiration for Sinwar’s dedicated efforts towards the liberation of the Palestinian people, as highlighted by the top Iranian diplomat.
Araghchi emphasized the enduring legacy of martyrs and stated that the struggle for the liberation of Palestine from occupation remains more vital than ever.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Friday afternoon.
In a resolute statement, the ministry declared that the physical removal of individuals dedicated to the pursuit of dignity and human honor will in no way diminish the movement and its resistance. Rather, their commendable sacrifices will unquestionably reinforce the legitimacy of their cause and serve as a profound source of inspiration for those continuing to walk the path towards dignity and freedom.
The recent assassination of Palestinian leaders and prominent figures by Israeli forces as part of an alleged 13-month campaign in the occupied territories has been met with strong condemnation. Critics have labeled the actions as part of a systematic plan, sparking widespread outrage and calls for accountability.
The statement further asserted that those who provide weapons, along with financial and political backing to the Israeli administration, particularly the United States, are deemed “accomplices and partners” in these acts.
The Iranian ministry has lauded Sinwar as a significant figure in the Palestinian liberation movement, praising him as a “big hero” and acknowledging his contributions as a writer who endured 22 years of imprisonment in Israeli jails.
Sinwar was described as an integral part of the resilient resistance against Israeli occupation and oppression, dedicating his life to advocating for the restoration of the Palestinian people’s legal and human rights and striving for liberation from occupation and apartheid.
The influential leader of the Palestinian resistance movement has successfully evaded numerous assassination attempts both preceding and following the operation known as Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, 2023.
Yahya Sinwar, aged 62, was pivotal in orchestrating and overseeing the significant operation that disrupted the Zionist government.
