Iran border guards deal heavy blow to terrorist group on southeast border

A terrorist group attempting to infiltrate Iran through the southeast border has been dealt a “heavy blow” from Iranian border guards in Sistan and Baluchestan province, according to the border police commander.

Brigadier General Ahmad Ali Goudarzi said the vigilant border guards of Sistan and Baluchestan, stationed in the Sirkan border zone, used intelligence and continuous monitoring to detect the movements of terrorists attempting to breach the border and execute subversive activities inside Iran.

Highlighting the operational and combat capabilities of the Iranian border police, General Goudarzi said, “This terrorist team intended to enter the country through the border area last night to carry out destructive operations.”

However, he continued, due to the “alertness and heavy firepower of our border guards during a strike operation, they were thwarted, and a significant blow was dealt to them.”

General Goudarzi explained that during the operation, two members of the terrorist group were killed.

He added that the Iranian border guards also seized a large number of weapons and ammunition, including two handheld wireless devices, 21 magazine chests, two wireless chargers, an infrared camera, one improvised explosive device, two explosive device batteries, and a smartphone. Additional items found included clothing, food supplies, and a satellite phone.
