Iran denounces zionist regime’s open acknowledgment of the assassination of Haniyeh in Tehran

Iran has issued a firm denunciation following Israel's "open admission" of orchestrating the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran earlier this year, labeling the act as a "heinous crime." The statement underscores Iran's strong opposition and condemnation of the incident.

In a formal correspondence delivered on Tuesday, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, expressed his remarks in a letter directed to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the UN Security Council.

In a bold statement, Iravani highlighted that this revelation represents the first instance in which the Israeli government has publicly acknowledged its involvement in the alleged atrocity.

He stated that Israel’s admission highlights the international accountability of the regime for its actions involving terrorism and aggression.

An Iranian diplomat stated that the actions taken by Iran on October 1, 2024, were both legitimate and lawful from a defensive standpoint.

Iravani emphasized that Israel, referred to as an occupying and terrorist regime, poses the most significant threat to peace and security both regionally and internationally.

He called on the United Nations Security Council to take decisive action against a regime accused of blatantly violating international law and destabilizing the region, emphasizing the need to put an end to its impunity.

The Iranian envoy cautioned that the Council’s ongoing silence could further embolden the terrorist regime to perpetrate additional atrocities.

On Monday, Israel’s Minister of Military Affairs, Israel Katz, officially acknowledged his government’s involvement in the recent killing, marking the first time an official admission has been made regarding the incident.

Katz has announced that the Israeli government intends to intensify its military operations in Yemen, which may include targeted assassinations.

On July 31, Haniyeh was assassinated in a targeted operation conducted by the regime in Tehran, the Iranian capital. He had traveled there as an official guest to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

In a series of targeted operations, the regime conducted an assassination of Yahya Sinwar, the successor to Ismail Haniyeh, during an October offensive in the Gaza Strip. Additionally, in September, a precision strike in Beirut resulted in the assassination of Hezbollah’s leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

Katz issued a warning that the regime is prepared to commit the previously mentioned atrocities in Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, as well as in the western port city of al-Hudaydah.

Since October 7, 2023, Yemen’s Armed Forces have launched a series of pro-Palestinian strikes in response to the Israeli-led military operation in the Gaza Strip, which is supported by the United States. This conflict has resulted in the loss of over 45,338 Palestinian lives, predominantly affecting women and children.

The strikes have been directed at American military assets stationed off the coast of Yemen, as well as strategic and sensitive locations across the occupied Palestinian territories. Additionally, Israeli ships and vessels approaching these areas have also come under attack.
