Iran FM: International community embarrassingly failed to halt ‘israel’s’ actions amid unwavering US backing’

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has criticized the international community for its ineffective response to the violations committed by the Israeli regime, highlighting the unyielding support that Tel Aviv receives from the United States, its principal ally.

The foreign minister delivered a speech in Cairo on Wednesday during the 21st session of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation’s Council of Ministers.

He stated that the international community has faced significant criticism for its inability to prevent acts of aggression, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and alleged genocide attributed to the Zionist regime.

“This is primarily ascribed to the political, military, intelligence, and financial backing provided to Israel by the US administration.”

The foreign minister highlighted approximately 15 months of intensified deadly aggression by the regime against the Gaza Strip, where Tel Aviv has been conducting a deadly campaign, as well as against Lebanon and Syria.

According to recent reports, the ongoing conflict has resulted in the deaths of at least 45,097 Palestinians, with a significant number of casualties being women and children.

Approximately 4,000 individuals lost their lives as the regime escalated its attacks on Lebanon, following the initiation of a severe military campaign. This aggressive action persisted until the previous month, when a ceasefire was implemented. However, Tel Aviv has frequently breached this truce, resulting in significant casualties among the Lebanese population.

Furthermore, the regime has significantly intensified its lethal assaults on Syria, focusing predominantly on military infrastructure, following the nation’s takeover by Western and Tel Aviv-backed militants opposed to Damascus.

Araghchi highlighted that the gathering of developing nations coincided with a period during which the Muslim world continued to endure unprecedented acts of cruelty by the regime.

He expressed hope that the Special Summit of various nations, set to commence on Thursday and attended by delegates from the Islamic Republic, Egypt, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey, would deliver a robust statement to the international community demanding an immediate halt to Israeli aggression and violations in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.

According to the official, the event aimed to emphasize the need for accountability for the regime and its allies who have been perpetuating aggression. Additionally, the message called for the establishment of a permanent ceasefire in Gaza to ensure unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid to its residents.

In recent statements, Araghchi emphasized that the summit was anticipated to underscore the critical necessity of addressing the Palestinian cause and affirming the Palestinians’ right to self-determination. Furthermore, the summit aimed to prevent any land annexation efforts by the regime and called for the immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories along the coastal sliver, as well as from Lebanon and Syria.

“He stated that the D8 nations stand ready to assist Palestine and Lebanon in tackling economic and related issues arising from the current situation.”

Araghchi commended the nations for being among the initial collective voices denouncing the onset of the conflict in Gaza. He emphasized that Thursday’s gathering would serve as a testament to these fraternal countries’ unwavering commitment to fostering unity, peace, dialogue, justice, and adherence to the rule of law both regionally and globally, as outlined in the D8 Charter.

In a diplomatic development, the chief envoy praised a declaration issued at Wednesday’s meeting, which lays the groundwork for promising opportunities for strengthened collaboration among the nations involved.

In a concluding statement, he urged nations to prioritize strategies for enhancing economic resilience and fortifying their populations against potential future shocks.
