Iran: Reliance on major global powers results only in degradation and embarrassment
Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, has asserted that reliance on global superpowers leads only to humiliation and disgrace.
During a ceremony marking the induction of a domestically-produced combat reconnaissance destroyer, held at Iran’s Navy’s 3rd District on Wednesday, a senior official emphasized that defense capabilities constitute a fundamental pillar of security and strength for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Islamic Republic boasts significant water resources and infrastructure, positioning it as a key player on the global stage, according to recent statements. Officials emphasized that by leveraging these assets, the Iranian Navy could enhance its standing in both regional and international spheres.
General Bagheri announced that the overarching guidelines for maritime development, sanctioned by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, now serve as the foundation for developing national strategies. These strategies encompass various sectors, including the military.
He stated that the Sea of Oman and the Makran coast constitute a highly valuable and distinctive region that has yet to be fully utilized. Highlighting the strategic importance of this area, he noted that Iran’s Army Navy has been at the forefront of leveraging these vital coastal regions. For over a decade, efforts have been underway to develop sections of this coastline, with more than 40 years of active engagement in advancing the Konarak and Chabahar areas.
In other parts of his address, he highlighted the ongoing construction of the Zagros Destroyer, emphasizing that the Iranian Army’s Naval Forces have collaborated with the Ministry of Defense, knowledge-driven enterprises, and domestic scientists to design and manufacture the necessary equipment and components.
