Iran, Russia presidents discuss Syria by phone

Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone call with his Russian counterpart Putin to discuss terrorist attacks in Syria.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed the situation in Syria with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian by phone, the Kremlin said in a statement on Monday.

“The focus was on the escalating situation in the Syrian Arab Republic,” the Kremlin said, according to Reuters.

“Unconditional support was expressed for the actions of the legitimate authorities of Syria to restore constitutional order and to restore the political, economic and social stability of the Syrian State.”

According to the Iranian readout of the phone call, Pezeshkian and Putin described terrorists’ invasion of Syria as an attempt to undermine its sovereignty and political stability.

Iranian and Russian presidents said that terror attacks were aimed at undermining Syria’s socio-economic stability.
