Major General Mohammad Baqeri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, commented on Monday regarding the upcoming AMAN (Peace)-25 multinational naval exercises. These drills are scheduled to occur in Karachi, Pakistan, from February 7 to 11.
A spokesperson announced that Iran has received an invitation to join the international military exercises in Pakistan and confirmed the nation’s participation in the event.
The event has attracted substantial global interest, particularly amid anticipation of active involvement by China’s People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLA Navy) in the exercises.
In a meeting held in Islamabad, Major General Bagheri, who is leading a high-ranking military delegation, discussed with Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir.
Officials emphasized the necessity for countries to engage in a rigorous fight against terrorism to ensure lasting security along shared border regions.
In a statement, Baqeri highlighted the significant progress achieved by the nations in fostering robust bilateral consultations, notably within the military and defense domains.
He stated that “essential” actions have been implemented to seal the borders, ensuring that cross-border movement is confined strictly to official checkpoints.
An official emphasized Pakistan’s strong commitment to combating the terrorist group Jaish al-Zulm, which is based within its borders. The official highlighted that coordinated efforts in border regions and the rapid sharing of intelligence would enable the countries to carry out effective operations against terrorist activities.
A senior Iranian military official has expressed approval for the launch of border markets between Iran and Pakistan, describing the initiative as a significant move towards curbing smuggling activities and bolstering legitimate trade relations.
