Iran to resist use of force policy by US: Ex-diplomat

Iranian ex-diplomat and former nuclear negotiator said on Sunday that Iran will resist the use of force policy and US interference despite the economic pressures imposed on it.

Iran has suffered and would suffer serious loss from the economic sanctions but would resist against the use of force policy and interference of the US, Hossein Mousavian noted in the Group of 78 conference.

The Group of 78 is civil society organization of Canadians to promote Canadian and global action for peace and disarmament, equitable and sustainable development, and a strong and revitalized United Nations system.

The Iranian ex-diplomat referred to the US accusations against Iran’s role in the region and said that if the US fully implements its Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) related obligations, it can expect Iran a dialogue on regional issues.

Elaborating on the details of foreign military and political interferences, aimed at regime change in Iran, he said that Iran’s doctrine is defensive and it has no other choice but to fight its enemies outside its borders before they come into the country.

Mousavian called for establishment of a security cooperation system in the region with the presence of Persian Gulf littoral states, Iran and Iraq to promote peace in the Middle East.

He said that cooperation among the UN Security Council member states as well as the key regional powers including Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt and Iraq is necessary for elevation of peace in the Middle East.
