Iran unveils the one-megawatt Local Positioning System (LPS) transmitter developed by the Malek-Ashtar University of Technology in Tehran. The Iranian Local Positioning System (ILPS) renders the Iranian defense forces independent of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and can be availed of when the GPS proves inaccessible during critical conditions or does not provide the desired precision.
