Iran will continue to resolutely support Palestine: Top general
Iran’s highest-ranking military commander has once again reaffirmed the Islamic Republic's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the resistance forces in their battle against Israel.
Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri made the remarks in a meeting with Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, in Tehran on Friday.
“The Palestinian cause has been the centerpiece of Iran’s major strategies since the [1979 victory of the Islamic] Revolution, and this will undoubtedly continue with full power,” Baqeri said.
He said the “unprecedented” Operation Al-Aqsa Storm by Hamas against Israel inflicted irreparable defeat on the regime.
The honorable operation shattered the myth of the regime’s invincibility and made Palestine an overriding issue across the world, the Iranian commander stated.
Baqeri said Israel would definitely have fallen apart without the US support.
He hailed the great resistance of the Palestinian people in the face of all pressures, saying the innocent and defenseless Palestinians succeeded in exposing the power of Islam to the world.
He expressed hope that the people of Palestine would achieve final victory in the near future.
Haniyeh, for his part, said the Hamas military operation allowed the voice of the Palestinian people to be heard across the world. He said Iran’s support for Palestine raises the morale of the Palestinian resistance fighters.
The Hamas leader commemorated great efforts by Iran’s top anti-terror commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani to support the oppressed and stand against the tyrannical powers.
In a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei told Haniyeh that Iran pursues a fixed policy of providing support to Palestine and the people in Gaza who have been suffering from brutal Israeli aggression for nearly six months.
Israel’s genocidal US-backed war started after Hamas carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Storm on October 7, 2023 against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
Nearly six months into the hostilities, the regime has failed to achieve its objectives of “destroying Hamas” and finding Israeli captives despite killing at least 32,620 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring over 75,000 others.
