Iranian Army introduces formidable laser-powered air defense system designed to protect its nuclear facilities

Iran's military has introduced an advanced laser-powered air defense system amid its Air Defense Forces' exercises conducted in the western and northern regions of the country.

On Sunday, the defense forces unveiled the equipment, dubbed Seraj (Light), during drills conducted near the Fordow uranium enrichment facility.

The Army has designated this system as just one component in a multi-layered approach to air defense services at the site.

Observers have labeled the apparatus as “daunting,” highlighting the surprise expressed by Western nations in response to the phenomenon.

In a recent series of exercises, the Air Defense Forces undertook a comprehensive range of operations that included reconnaissance, interception, engagement, and neutralization against simulated enemy units. The drills also showcased the deployment of an array of additional defense systems, enhancing the overall strategic response capabilities.

The forces launched missile airstrikes to safeguard strategic and sensitive areas within their control.

The exercises, overseen by the Islamic Republic’s Integrated Air Defense Network, successfully repelled simulated enemy attacks in Fordow and the adjacent Khondab District.

The military exercises, aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the nation’s air defense systems against potential threats, concluded on Sunday following the successful attainment of their set objectives.

The Air Defense Forces effectively maintained control over intelligence operations by employing a comprehensive array of both sensitive active and passive radar systems, alongside signal detection, optical, and surveillance technologies. This robust setup enables them to promptly identify and track invasive targets.

The operational and technical capabilities of the defense forces were further evaluated through simulated engagement scenarios, demonstrating their proficiency and adherence to passive defense strategies.

The exercises placed significant focus on the principle of rapid deployment.

The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic, encompassing both the Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), are consistently advancing their military equipment and preparedness in accordance with instructions from the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The national forces have pledged to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against threats posed by adversaries of the Iranian nation.
