Iranian navy in Pakistan to participate international maritime exercises, marking an enhanced level of engagement in multinational cooperation

The Iranian Navy has joined the ninth iteration of Pakistan's multinational naval exercise, AMAN-25, which commenced on Friday in the port city of Karachi.

The Pakistan Navy is currently conducting a maritime exercise, featuring a strong international presence with navies from over 60 countries participating. The event includes the deployment of ships, aircraft, special operations forces, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) marine teams, and observers, reflecting a comprehensive collaboration among global maritime forces.

Organizers state that the event is designed to bolster maritime security measures and promote international collaboration in addressing both regional and global challenges.

An Iranian Navy combat vessel is participating in military exercises from February 7 to 11, as part of a broader delegation.

The Iranian military delegation is set to engage in the inaugural AMAN Dialogue, which aims to enhance maritime cooperation, during the ongoing exercise. Additionally, the delegation is expected to hold meetings with several other delegations, including key Pakistani military officials.

During a recent diplomatic engagement, Pakistan extended a formal invitation to Iran to participate in joint military exercises. This invitation was made during the visit of Major General Mohammad Baqeri, the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, to Islamabad.

During the opening ceremony, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, Commander of the Pakistan Fleet, underscored the critical importance of collaborative operations and maintaining naval stability.

Munib announced that nations have joined forces to protect the world’s oceans, emphasizing that the ever-changing maritime challenges necessitate a unified response.

He emphasized that no individual nation possesses the capability to address these challenges independently.

He highlighted that the multinational exercise serves as a platform for exchanging information, fostering mutual understanding, and pinpointing shared interests among the participating nations to uphold stability, peace, and prosperity.

This year’s Aman Dialogue is centered around the theme “Secure Seas, Prosperous Future,” emphasizing the pressing security challenges faced in the Indian Ocean region.

Since its launch in 2007, the ‘Aman’ series has been conducted every two years.
