Iran’s Baqeri: Recent increase in terrorism within Syria is a component of a coordinated strategy by the US and ‘israel’

The Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces has issued a warning, suggesting that the recent escalation in terrorist activities in northwestern Syria forms part of a "dangerous" strategy orchestrated by the United States and Israel to destabilize the Syrian government.

In a series of telephone conversations on Tuesday, Major General Mohammad Baqeri engaged with Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Iraqi Defense Minister Major General Yahya Rasool, and Syrian Defense Minister General Abdul Karim Mahmoud Ibrahim.

Officials engaged in talks regarding the latest developments in Syria, focusing on the rising threat of terrorism within the nation.

General Baqeri has expressed concerns over the recent offensive by foreign-backed Takfiri militants in Syria, describing it as the initial phase of a potentially perilous situation for the region. He noted that the timing of this assault, coinciding with a fragile ceasefire in Lebanon, suggests a deliberate American-Zionist agenda aimed at undermining Syria, its allies, and the broader Axis of Resistance.

In recent diplomatic discussions, top-level officials pledged unequivocal backing for the legitimate government of Syria and resolved to implement measures to bolster the Syrian army’s counteroffensive efforts.

They further urged Syria’s neighboring nations to implement measures to halt any assistance to Takfiri terrorist organizations.

Foreign-supported militants, associated with the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) Takfiri faction, initiated a significant offensive in Syria’s northwest provinces of Aleppo and Idlib on November 27. They have reportedly taken control of multiple locations.

Since that time, Syrian government forces have been locked in intense battles with militant groups in a bid to reclaim territory.

Militant groups are actively attempting to disrupt the Syrian government’s initiatives to enhance security and stability throughout the nation, which continues to face frequent assaults from Israeli forces.

Israel has been a primary supporter of insurgent groups opposing the government of President Bashar al-Assad since the onset of the conflict in Syria, which began with foreign-backed uprisings in March 2011.

Russia, in conjunction with Iran, has been instrumental in supporting Syrian forces amidst the ongoing conflict, primarily through the provision of air support to bolster ground operations.
