Iran’s Pezeshkian underscores the importance of deterrence as Iran introduces its latest ballistic missile, “Etemad”

President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized Iran's deterrent capabilities as the Defense Ministry introduced the newly developed "Etemad" ballistic missile.

On Sunday, during the National Space Technology Day exhibition, which highlighted the Iranian Defense Ministry’s latest advancements in satellite launchers and guidance systems, Pezeshkian delivered remarks on the sidelines of the event.

He presided over the launch ceremony of a newly developed ballistic missile, dubbed “Etamad,” which boasts a range extending to 1,700 kilometers.

The 16-meter-long missile, featuring a diameter of 1.25 meters, is equipped with a guided warhead designed to strike its intended target with precision.

The President stated that Iran’s defense capabilities and advancements in space technologies serve as a deterrent to dissuade any potential invasions against the Islamic Republic.

He stated that Iran’s progress in defense capabilities and space technologies acts as a deterrent to aggression, ensuring that no nation considers infringing on Iranian territory or even contemplates such actions.

Pezeshkian highlighted that despite efforts by adversarial forces to hinder Iran’s self-reliance, the nation, drawing on the expertise of its youth and specialists, has successfully manufactured and even exported military equipment while achieving significant scientific advancements.

He stated that while there was a time when adversaries might have easily breached the nation’s borders, Iran’s current formidable military and defense capabilities now deter any such considerations. This strength has been realized through the dedicated efforts of the nation’s youth, experts, and specialists.
