Iraqi army raises flag in Mosul neighbourhood
Commander of operation ‘We Are coming, Nineveh’ announced on Thursday liberating al-Tahrir neighborhood, in eastern the city of Mosul, from the grip of the Islamic State extremist group, and raising Iraqi flag over its buildings.
Major General Abdel Amir Yarallah said in a press statement that after liberating al-Tahrir neighborhood in eastern Mosul from ISIS, the Iraqi army raised the country’s flag over its buildings.
“Troops of the Anti-Terrorism Directorate stormed into al-Tahrir neighborhood in eastern Mosul, and raised the Iraqi flag over its buildings,” he said.
“The security forces advised the families to stay at their houses, and we will continue removing improvised explosive devices from the neighborhood,” Yarallah explained.
The Iraqi army and its allies are engaged in removing ISIS from its last major stronghold, Iraq’s second largest city, Mosul.
