Iraqi Army surrounds strategic district in west Fallujah
The Iraqi Army – backed by the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and Federal Police – imposed full control over the village of Albu Shajal in the Al-Saqlawiyah District on Wednesday, forcing the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) fighters to make an eastward retreat. However, the Islamic State forces cannot retreat too far east because they are cutoff from the city of Fallujah.
The capture of Mukhtar by the Iraqi Armed Forces last weekend has proven incredibly important, as the Islamic State is now surrounded from two different flanks in the Al-Saqlawiyah District.
