Iraqi forces capture more villages, come within 6km of Mosul
On the East Mosul axis, the Iraqi forces are making a strong push towards Mosul by capturing Khaznah, Muwafakiyah, Tahrawah and Tarab Zawa villages from ISIS.
The Iraqi Army, Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) and the Assyrian Nineveh Liberation Units are now just within 6km of Mosul’s eastern outskirts.
The PMU have made it clear however that they will not participate in any battles within Mosul city.
The villages lay just slightly west of Bartella, the Christian Assyrian town that was liberated just a few days earlier.
According to Reuters, ISIS has lost 80 villages in Iraq since the Iraqi Army and allied forces began the joint offensive 8 days ago
