Iraqi forces encircle ISIL stronghold near Syrian border
The Popular Mobilization Units (Hashd Al-Sha’abi) made a major advance in the northwestern countryside of the Nineveh Governorate, resulting in the encirclement of the Islamic State’s (ISIS) stronghold near the Syrian border.
According to Iraqi activists, the Popular Mobilization Units seized the entire Badush area west of Mosul City, fully cutting off the Islamic State terrorists from Tal ‘Afar for the first time during this war.
With Tal ‘Afar fully surrounded, the Popular Mobilization Units will be able to collapse the Islamic State’s small pocket at the western flank of Mosul City.
