Iraqi Forces Launch Operation to Liberate Zankoura, Northern Ramadi
Iraqi Ministry of Defense announced the launch of liberation operation of Zankoura area in Northern Ramadi, 110 km West of Baghdad.
“The liberation operation of Zankoura of ISIL grip was launched at Abu Risha in Northern Ramadi, under the supervision of the Army Chief of Staff, aides to Army Chief of Staff for Operations and the commander of the army’s Ground Forces,” the ministry said in a statement, Iraqi News reported.
“Forces of Anbar Operations’ Commando Brigade and the Tactical Regiment of Anbar police, backed by the artillery of the army’s 16th Brigade, Iraqi Air Force and Iraqi Army Aviation, also participated in the operation,” the statement added.
The operation to take back Zankoura began as the Iraqi security forces keep their momentum in victories against the ISIL terrorist group, especially in Western and Northern Iraq.
