Iraqi forces liberate district in eastern Mosul: map
The Iraqi Army liberated another district in the eastern sector of Mosul after carrying out a powerful assault against the so-called “Islamic State” (ISIS) on Tuesday.
According to the Iraqi Army’s High Command, their forces liberated the Al-Sukkar District in eastern Mosul on Tuesday, killing and wounding a large number of Islamic State militants.
In addition to liberating the Al-Sukkar District, the Iraqi Armed Forces made a serious push to seize the remaining neighborhoods under Islamic State control near Mosul’s central districts.
Recently, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense announced that more than 70 percent of Mosul has been liberated; while this may be true, the Islamic State still control several sites in-and-around the provincial capital of the Nineveh Governorate.
