IRGC Navy announces the introduction of a new drone, promising it will make a significant impact on the global stage
The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has revealed forthcoming plans to incorporate a state-of-the-art and uniquely sophisticated unmanned aerial vehicle into its arsenal.
An advanced drone planned to join the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy will surprise the world, the commander of the force said.
Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri on Wednesday announced the pending integration of the groundbreaking and uniquely advanced unmanned aerial vehicle into the force.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 12th edition of the Islamic Republic’s International Aerospace Exhibition on the Kish Island in the country’s southern waters, he said the aircraft that has been developed in cooperation between the IRGC Navy and Iran’s Defense Ministry “will surprise the world”.
“The horizon of joint cooperation between the IRGC Navy and the ministry will change” upon integration of the aircraft into the force, Tangsiri noted, asserting that the drone would not serve as the last instance of collaboration between the two sides.
“We will, in fact, change the horizon (of the bilateral cooperation)” through unveiling of the aircraft, the commander stated, Press TV reported.
Back in January, the IRGC and the Iranian Army fielded numerous drones and other defensive hardware in a set of 20 countrywide military exercises.
A month later, the Corps’ Ground Force took delivery of sophisticated homegrown kamikaze and combat unmanned aerial vehicles featuring state-of-the-art technologies.
In March, the commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Defense Force (IRIADF) said the Army branch was to unveil its new generation of missile and drone systems by the end of the current Persian calendar year.
In September, the country paraded an unprecedented number of ballistic missiles and unveiled of a new kamikaze drone with a range of more than 4,000 kilometers (2,485 miles).
Earlier this month, the commander of the Iranian Navy hailed the force’s comprehensive surveillance over the American warships that sail across the regional waters.
“The United States aircraft carrier as well as 16-strong destroyers and frigates that are present in the region are being constantly surveilled by our reconnaissance drones,” Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said at the time. “We are over their heads,” he added, referring to the warships in question.
Throughout the past years, the IRGC’s UAVs have also captured strikingly precise footage of American aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf’s waters on several occasions.
Iranian officials have underscored that the country would not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities as per Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s demand for further invigoration of the country’s defenses.
