ISIL in mass retreat as Syrian Army troops advance in northeast Homs: video
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their large-scale advance in the northeastern countryside of Homs on Friday, liberating several sites from the Islamic State (ISIL) militants occupying the area.
Leading the way on Friday was the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Legion; they would liberate the important quarries located directly east of the Al-Shumriyah Mountains.
Also present at the battle in northeast Homs was the pro-government National Defense Forces (NDF) and Hezbollah.
Video footage from the battle was released by Hezbollah’s media wing on Friday afternoon; it shows several destroyed vehicles and captured weapons near the Al-Shumriyah Mountains.
With the Al-Shumriyah Mountains almost fully secured, the Syrian Arab Army has begun to shift their focus to the strategic Al-Sha’er Gas Fields, where they hope to capture the last wells under the Islamic State’s control.
