In relevant developments in the province on Saturday, the strategic city of Deir Hafer, the last ISIL stronghold in the Eastern part of Aleppo province, was captured by the Syrian army and its allied forces after heavy clashes with the terrorist group, giving the government forces a major platform for initiating a major assault on Raqqa, the ISIL’s self-proclaimed capital in Syria.
The army units could win back the city after fierce clashes and killing and wounding tens of ISIL terrorists on Saturday.
The latest reports said the army’s engineering units had already started operations to cleanse the region from bombs and mines planted by the terrorists at the entrances of the city.
