Islamic leaders call for an immediate cessation of ‘israel’s’ actions in Gaza and Lebanon

Muslim and Arab leaders convened for an extraordinary meeting.

During a speech at the joint meeting of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Monday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman denounced the “massacre perpetrated against Palestinian and Lebanese populations.”

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has called on Israel to “abstain from any additional aggressive actions,” emphasizing the importance of restraint in regional conflicts.

Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, aligned with the Saudi Crown Prince in denouncing Israel’s military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, which they have characterized as a campaign of death and destruction. Aboul Gheit emphasized the severe suffering of the Palestinian people, stating that “words cannot express the plight” they endure.

Israel’s measures against the Palestinian populace are reportedly hindering initiatives to secure a durable peace, according to recent statements. Observers emphasize that achieving enduring peace is contingent upon the establishment of justice.

President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran was unable to attend the meeting, citing urgent “executive matters” as the reason for his absence. However, in a telephone conversation with the Saudi Crown Prince, President Pezeshkian confirmed that Iran would be represented at the summit by its First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref.

The main priorities are to cease hostilities, safeguard civilian populations, assist the Palestinian and Lebanese communities, consolidate positions, and urge the international community to enact definitive measures to halt the ongoing assaults and foster enduring peace and stability in the region.
