Islamic Scholars Call on Muslim Nations to Back Palestinian Resistance with Fatwa
The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) has released a religious edict, calling on Muslim nations to deliver prompt military, financial, and armed assistance to the Palestinian resistance, in reaction to what they describe as ongoing genocidal actions by the Israeli authorities in Gaza.

Gaining the endorsement of more than a dozen notable scholars, the decree advocates for direct military intervention, the imposition of economic sanctions on Israel, and increased support for Palestinian resistance groups.
It calls for the establishment of a cohesive Islamic military coalition aimed at protecting Muslim countries and countering external threats.
The Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), Ali al-Qaradaghi, declared during a public reading of a fatwa on Friday that, under Islamic law, the inability of Arab and Islamic governments to come to the aid of Gaza, amidst its devastation, constitutes a significant transgression against their oppressed compatriots in the region.
The ruling declares that armed resistance against Israel is a religious duty for all able-bodied Muslims, calling on Islamic nations to promptly intervene to stop what is described as the “systematic genocide” of Palestinians.
In addition to military involvement, scholars have urged for a comprehensive blockade of Israel across land, sea, and air. This proposal includes shutting down key waterways and airspaces under Muslim control to Israeli-linked traffic.
A religious decree has been issued, explicitly prohibiting the provision of oil, gas, or any resources to Israel that could assist in its military campaign in Gaza.
Qaradaghi emphasized that any form of support for Israel in its actions against Muslims in Gaza is strictly prohibited.
The statement calls on Muslim communities in the United States to exert pressure on the Trump administration to implement tangible measures aimed at stopping Israeli actions and fostering peace.
In a recent statement, the scholars criticized Israel for breaching the ceasefire agreement and rebuked the US government for facilitating Israeli hostilities by persistently supplying arms to Tel Aviv.
Gaza health officials report a significant escalation in casualties, with the death toll from the American-supported Israeli operations reaching over 50,609. The number of injured has surpassed 115,000. Recent hostilities since mid-March have resulted in the deaths of 1,249 Palestinians in the ongoing conflict.
The fatwa urges a worldwide boycott of Israeli goods and enterprises while also advocating for diplomatic actions, including the recall of ambassadors and the enactment of political sanctions against Israel and its supporters.
The decree concludes by urging religious leaders to publicly condemn the alleged genocide in Gaza, mobilize their congregations, and seek decisive action from their respective governments.
The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) concluded its assembly with a call for unity among Muslims worldwide, encouraging ongoing prayers for Gaza and endorsing support for individuals and organizations in solidarity with Palestine.
